Take a look at The Roto Chair, this great chair was cast using Easy Flo 120 rotational casting resin. The Notcutt Flyer
Roto Chair Roto Chair is a rotational moulded chair.

Rotational moulding is usually a high temperature, low pressure plastic forming process that uses biaxial rotation, to produce hollow onepiece components.

This chair is an example of rotational moulding at a very simplified level. It has been constructed using flat acrylic sheet moulds, two part curing resins and turning by hand.

The language of the chair was derived from the observation that conctructing the rotational moulds from flat sheet acrylic is far simpler than adding forms and curves.

Case Studies - Polytek Spray Equipment
Dispensing and Spray Equipment for Polytek Rubbers and Plastics.

For many users hand mixing and pouring or brushing is adequate to make moulds and castings, but for larger projects spray equipment is often the right choice.

James Enright of The Prop Shop, Pinewood Studios, recently contacted us with such a request. A large sculpture for the Tate Modern was carved in polystyrene and needed a hard surface coating. This can be a difficult job, even for the most experienced mould maker and caster.Polyester resin is the traditional way of hard coating the surface, but will melt and destroy the polystyrene unless the polystyrene is completely sealed with P.V.A., tin foil etc.

This can be a little hit and miss and is where the 1:1 spray equipment available from Notcutt Ltd is ideal. The Polytek Easy Flo Spray 100 polyurethane resin was used to spray the surface of the very large pieces of polystyrene to create a hard and durable finished surface. The surface can then be sanded and painted very easily to create the perfect finish.

The equipment can be hired and the resin purchased from Notcutt Ltd. Please call our friendly sales team for prices and availability.
